Implant overdenture inserts are consumable parts, replaced periodically as the grip softens. That is by design; the insert wearing protects the implant from taking the strain. Budget for it as routine maintenance in the same way as any moving part, and have it done before the denture starts moving rather than after.
Cleaning is the real implant overdenture advantage. Both the denture and the exposed posts can be cleaned directly, which is easier than reaching under a fixed bridge. Far more than a conventional denture. It clicks into place and does not lift when you bite, though it is still a denture and a fixed bridge feels more like natural teeth. Most people describe the change as being able to stop thinking about it.

Studs are simpler, cheaper and easier to repair. A bar holds more firmly and spreads the load, which suits a ridge with uneven bone or posts at awkward angles. It also needs more vertical space and more careful cleaning underneath.
The inserts commonly need changing every year or two. It is a short appointment. The metal parts on the posts last far longer. Treat the inserts as a consumable and the system works well for many years.
Sometimes, if the posts were placed in positions that would also work for a fixed arch. That is worth raising at planning if a fixed bridge is your eventual goal, because posts sited purely for an overdenture may not be where a fixed one needs them.
